Petroleos Mexicanos appointed BlackRock Inc.’s former Mexico country chief to lead the company’s international trading arm.

Isaac Volin will start as director of the unit on June 27, a company press official who cannot be named due to company policy said in a text message. Volin, who was the head of BlackRock Mexico from 2010 to 2013, will replace Jorge Sanchez, who has served as head of the trading unit, known as PMI, since September.

PMI is responsible for exports and imports of crude, refined products and petrochemicals at Pemex, as the state-owned company is known. The unit will oversee the import of as much as 75,000 daily barrels of light crude from the U.S. in exchange for heavy Mexican oil, which was approved last year.
